Ananth Narayan is a financial markets expert with over three decades of experience across international banking, securities regulation, and public policy. As a former Whole-Time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from 2022 to 2025, he spearheaded the oversight of market infrastructure, secondary markets, and enforcement.

Ananth’s regulatory tenure was preceded by 25 years in global financial markets, where he led regional businesses for Standard Chartered, Deutsche Bank, and Citibank across South Asia and ASEAN. A dedicated educator and researcher, he has also served as Associate Professor and Head of Public Policy at SPJIMR. An IIT Bombay and IIM Lucknow (Gold Medalist) alumnus, Ananth continues to bridge the gap between markets, governance, and policy through his writings.
