Brian Bonis
Chief Federal Reserve and U.S. Economy Analyst
Brian Bonis joins the Observatory Group after thirteen years at the Federal Reserve. Most recently, he served as Assistant Secretary of the Federal Open Market Committee and Deputy Associate Director at the Board of Governors. His work centered on FOMC communications, including oversight of the Summary of Economic Projections, and leading the team responsible for producing and publishing meeting minutes, transcripts, and historical documents. He also worked closely with policymakers on governance and policy processes, giving him a front-row seat to monetary policymaking.
Earlier, as a financial analyst in the Monetary Affairs division, Brian focused on policy implementation, balance sheet projections, and money market analysis. Before the Fed, he spent ten years at Travelers Insurance as a senior financial consultant responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Brian earned a PhD in Economics from George Mason University and a Master’s in Applied Economics from the University of Maryland.
